College of Arts was established in the academic year 1999–2000, and at its founding, it included two departments: Arabic Language and History. Since then, the college has worked alongside the Colleges of Education and Science to support the educational and academic progress of the university.
In order to open new horizons, the Department of Law was established in the academic year 2001–2002, which later became an independent College of Law in 2005.
In 2006, both the Department of Qur’anic Sciences and the Department of Geography were established to admit students for the academic year 2006–2007.
The Department of Media was also founded in the academic year 2009–2010, and it later became an independent College of Media in 2014.
In the academic year 2014–2015, two new departments were established: the Department of English Language and the Department of Sociology.
In 2015, the Department of Qur’anic Sciences became an independent college, bringing the total number of departments currently within the College of Arts to five:
Arabic Language, History, Geography, English Language, and Sociology.
